Description

For the Zelda contest over at :iconknitting-and-crochet:

SO excited about this contest! I'm a huge Zelda fan and I even got a Hyrule Crest tattooed on my arm! Not to mention that I've made these super awesome Hyrule Crest pendants in sterling silver (which you can see in the jewellery gallery on my other profile)...

I also collect games and the Zelda games are one of the series I would really like to own. Just to mention some of the things I got in my collection (and go completely off-topic) is all the CDi games, the limited edition GBASP, DS lite, 3DS and 3DSXL complete in box and some of them also sealed.

But enough bragging and fangirling... I knew I had to make something for this contest and it took me forever to decide on what. It suddenly hit me that I needed to make a pair of socks. I redrew all the charts from my favorite sock pattern cause I'm too lazy to start test knitting and calculate all the numbers... It still took me about 3 days to get the charts though...

I decided to make them both different, one for Link and one for Zelda with different symbols that represents them both as well as their colors. The Link sock was made in forest green and yellow. I needed to have the Master Sword, ofcourse, so I made it the repeated pattern on the leg and also on the foot. Then I added Navi, some hearts to represent the older games as well as the Triforce with the lower right piece highlighted. I also decided to add the same Triforce on the underside of the sock.
For me, Zelda has always been purple and white, even though she's pink in most games, her dress is purple in the Twilight Princess game, which is my favorite...also it was either this color or baby pink or magenta... I added the Sheik symbol. You should understand why I added it if you've playd the games, expecially Ocarina of Time. I kept the reto hearts and I chose to put her bow from Twilight Princess as the main symbol to go along with Link's Master Sword. I also highlighted the lower left Triforce piece for Zelda, and again, put the same thing under the foot.

The lower left highlighted Triforce piece represents the Triforce of Wisdom, which holds the essence of Nayru, the Goddess of Wisom which Zelda possesses. The lower right represents the Triforce of Courage, which holds the essence of Farore, the Goddess of Courage which Link possesses. The top piece represents the Triforce of Power, which holds the essense of Din, the Goddess of Power, which Ganon possesses, but I didn't make a sock for him...which I totally should have, but I only got two feet...

I've actually ordered a pair of transparent rain boots which I was hoping to add in this photoshoot, but sadly, they didn't arrive in time... Next socks maybe...

Pattern is based off this one www.garnstudio.com/lang/no/vis…
