Red cable leggings

My middle niece turned 4 on the 29th of april so my mom pitched me with the idea that she needed a pair of nice and warm leggings, since I didn't have any idea what to get/make for her birthday, I decided to act on this one. My mom then proceded to dig out five skeins of this beautiful, bright red alpaca yarn from Drops Design and told me to get to it right before Easter. I couldn't work much on them during my Easter stay since my brother, sister in law and nieces were there too, but when I got home, it worked up rather quickly seeing as I only had one and a half week to finish it...and it being 2,5mm needles.
From the very start I made it differently. The pattern was all ribbed and didn't required a folded part on the top to fit an elastic band, but I added one anyway since it'll fit on the child better that way. I also decided to knit it as plain as possible seeing as the one I made for my oldest niece, which was all ribbing was a nightmare. The pattern I found had these pretty cables going down the sides, and I do love me some cables. Without the ribbing, also taking away the cables would look horrible.
I was going to knit these to fit a 7-8 year old, but because some complications for an unknown reason, I ended up with 10sts less on each leg, and being too stressed to actually frog down the first leg and fix the error, wherever it would be located, I decided to continue. Hopefully, my middle nice won't have too chubby legs as she gets older...
I kept the ribbing on the end of the legs to give it a better fit.
