Striped cable and ribbed leggings

Back in april, I made a pair of red leggings in alpaca for my middle niece. Sadly, these didn't fit her that well, even though I made it in the size 7/8 year. And no, my niece is neither obese or abnormally long/big for being 4 years old. Here I blame the pattern. I did leave out the ribbing on those leggings, but still, the legs were too short for her.
Without telling me, my sister in law had given the red leggings to my youngest niece instead, which is fine and dandy and all that jazz. But when I now started planning on making a pair for my youngest niece for her birthday now in august, I was lucky my mom stopped me. She told me that I should rather make a pair for my middle niece and they could switch them around amongst themselfs. So it was done.
Just to make sure, I made this pair in the size 9/10 year, I also included the ribbing which I later regret cause working ribbed leggings is a pain and a half! This thing sucked all the motivation out of me!
I used some scraps from the red leggings and my blue baked bean hoodie to make it a bit more interesting. With the base yarn being so dark and very blue, I thought a little girl at 4 years old wouldn't like it that much. But I can just say that my niece seemed to love it and put it on under her fancy formal dress, and that makes it all worth it for me. As long as they like what I make and they actually use it, then I'm a happy aunt.
