Description

FINALLY! Started this cardigan last autumn but could never finish it because of the holiday rush that came in October and lasted through January. Remind me to start knitting Christmas presents much earlier this year...
In fact, this one has been sitting around finished for almost two weeks already. I had to take another break at the very end because I couldn't find buttons that matched it...how ironic is that seeing as I work at a yarn store? I always knew that I would have to get bright yellow buttons for it since the whole cardigan is bright green with yellow fair-isle, any other colour would look weird and out of place. Of course, we didn't have any yellow buttons at work, so I had to order some and hope the shade wasn't too off... But it matched perfectly, and I sewed them on just the other day!
But seeing as I don't have my photographer anylonger (read ex-boyfriend), I had to wait until work so I could get a decent picture of it...on a mannequin... So please excuse the lack of pictures of me posing with the knitting garment in the future. But this work, even though it doesn't look as good as it does on a living person.

I do regret not putting a lime instead of the middle clover on the back, the whole cardigan has a whole lemon lime feeling to it. I was originally going to do bright orange instead of yellow, but the colours kept screaming at eachother and it didn't really look good the further into the fair-isle I got...and I don't really like yellow so I have no idea what I was thinking... But it looks good finished! I'm happy with it! I've already made one of these in burgundy and yellow before, and I'm really in love with this pattern! Lucky for me, I'll get atleast two commissions on these this year, so I'll get to knit more of them!

The name of this pattern is called Bøvertun. It's originated from a little place called Bøvertun here in Norway and was probably designed around the 1950 like most fair-isle "kofter" we have.

Needles: 2,5mm
Yarn: Tineshop - 100% wool
Pattern can be found in a book called Kofteboken, written by Lene Holme Samsøe and Liv Sandvik Jakobsen, as far as I know in Norwegian only.
