Description

Second project of the year! Haven't gotten around to photographing the first one yet, but I think I'll have it up in a couple of days! Fans of the movie Frozen, brace yourselfs!

For the chinese new year contest at :iconknitting-and-crochet:

Figured I'd make something for the contest this month since I haven't been able to attend the two/three last ones...busy holiday are busy you know... And since the contest this month was the chinese zodiacs, I decided to make something with my zodiac, the dragon(fun fact: if I was born a month later, I would be a snake, yay for new years birthdays?) I'm not really a super dragon fan (they're awesome and stuff, yes) but I wanted to make something dragon-ish anyway, preferably something more abstract. I'm not too good with amigurumis so I'll rather take an element from the dragon and impliment it into a garment of some kind.

After a Ravelry search, I came across these awesome gauntlets in this fancy pattern called "dragon scale", and with Smaug from the Hobbit (since those movies are pretty current right now) missing one of its scale (which then is the way to kill it off), why not go for the dragon scales?

Normaly dragons are either green or red, but I decided to go for purple for some reason, this is actually a skein of some kind of wool blend, nameless yarn I got from the-carolyn-michelle ages ago. I also decided to make it more royal with a golden decorating thread. I took some freedom from the pattern, altering some small things and also shortening them since I was limited with the yarn, and wouldn't you know, it was just about perfect! I wouldn't have enough yarn for another repeat of the scale pattern.

The gold carry-along thread just sort of makes it perfect. =)
